Hydrocarbon Sector Union
The Hydrocarbon Sector Union (HSU) is a central trade union organization established through the voluntary association of employees in the hydrocarbon sector across Albania. It includes public and private companies operating in the hydrocarbon field, including administrations, subsidiaries, offices and branches, research institutes, supervisory agencies, commercial companies, and any other entities directly or indirectly connected to the hydrocarbon sector.
The Union has its own statute, which stipulates that it may not contradict the normative legal and sub-legal acts of the Albanian state, as well as the Human Rights Charter and international conventions ratified by the Albanian state. Although it is independent, the Hydrocarbon Sector Union (HSU) may become a member of trade union federations and confederations, as well as join international organizations, cooperating with them to protect and advance the interests of its members.
The HSU aims to protect the common interests of employees in the hydrocarbon sector and workers in general. It seeks to achieve optimal welfare standards, ensure equal rights at work for both men and women, provide equal opportunities for all social groups and age categories, ensure occupational health and safety conditions, offer decent wages, and guarantee environmental protection in line with generally accepted standards by its members.
The Hydrocarbon Sector Union directly represents and defends the interests and rights of its members before state institutions and private entities, as well as in relation to the three branches of government: the legislative, executive, and judicial branches.
